Choosing the right boat for your needs can be a challenge. To choose your dream boat you will need to know the different kinds of boats first.

For someone like myself, I have had so many different kinds of boats through the years and every boat I owned I had a wonderful time using.

Each person has different wants and needs for the purpose of boating.

Choosing the right boat depends on many different factors and what you want to use your new boat for. How can you determine what boat best fits your wants and needs?

Deciding, finding, and buying your first boat is a huge decision and there comes an expense that goes along with the purchase of your new boat.

Insurance must be bought for the boat. You will have winterizing fees if you are not able to winterize the boat yourself and you don't live in a all year round warm climate. If you decide not to trailer your boat, then you also have dock fees and they are usually figured out by cost per foot. All these things do add up to be somewhat expensive, but in my eyes, the fun and enjoyment of boating is well worth the expense.

It is very wise, if you never had a boat before to find a Coast Guard Approved Boating Course to learn all the rules of the road in the world of boating.

Also, in some states, it is required by law to have an endorsement to your drivers license adding Boat to your license.

These are just a few tips from my experience with boating and now I will tell you about a few of my favorites and give you some information of what these water crafts and boats can best be used for. As I said, these are just a few of many different styles and sizes. You will have to do your own shopping to select the boat or water craft that's just right for you and your family.

Starting out with the smaller of the water crafts are as follows:

• The Original Jet Ski: When these were presented to the boating world the younger people bought these for plan simple fun and the speed of them were Jet fast for such a small water craft. These Jet Skis started out as a one person stand up model which was the start of the Jet Ski world of fun.

• Today there are so many different styles and also now these Jet Skis can carry two to three person while still having the speed and comfort.
• Many of people have learned so many tricks such as back flips, barrow rolls and so much more on these original stand up or kneel down models.
  

Bass Boats, preferred name everyone knows, are used by many of our competition fisherman for the fact of the pure speed these boats can achieve, the flat platform, the bow seat with the foot controls of the battery operated trolling motor.

These fishing boats use only outboard engines in which can have 100 or more horsepower hooked to the transom and hitting speeds of over 60 MPH, making the bass boats and it's captains race each other in to in order to get to the fish first, and try winning that tournament trophy and prize money.

These weekend fun boats are in the 16 to 28 foot range and have no accommodations such as heads (toilets) sinks or sleeping quarters, but many people have a blast on the weekend with these very affordable boats.

Some may prefer the outboard engine, but they are also equipped with I/O referred to as inboard/outboard. It all depends on the owner preference.

Many use these boats for fishing, water skiing, pulling behind a inter tube and just having loads of family fun.

Here we have one step up with boats that can accommodate up to 6 persons or possibly more depending on the size of the boat you choose.

These over night boats know to some by the name of the Cabin Cruiser have all that's needed to make your weekend comfortable and enjoyable.

These boats can sleep up to and sometime more than 6 people and consist of a Galley area with sink, stove, microwave, refrigerator. Sleeping in the forward or Bow Area and a fold down Galley table for more area to sleep. Some will have a aft cabin under the main helm giving more sleeping quarters for your guests.

House boats are like your home away from home. Here, you have every accommodation you will need for a weekend or week on the lake or just an all year round floating home.

House boats are not designed for ocean or rough sea travel, but are excellent in lakes and rivers. Some have all the bell and whistles such as slide in boards coming off the top deck. A great time for the kids, and even the adults will have fun with this added feature to your boat.

Motor Yachts are the most Luxurious boats out there. These yachts have more on board than I could even explain to you.

They are truly a floating mansion and even more than that, having helicopter pads on board to get you to land in a jiffy.

They have every accommodation you could imagine. Guest quarters, Crew quarters, State of the art Galleys, the best in all electronic and navigation equipment for your long range cruises.

These yachts range from 38 foot all the way up to the Mega Yachts over 400 foot in length. These Yachts are truly unbelievable to say the least.

In summary, the are so many different style and sizes of boats and water crafts to suit any ones needs. You just have to think about what you intend to use your new boat for and start to shop from there.

Once you have found your dream boat you will have years of fun and enjoyment out on the water and will diffidently met some of the greatest people out on the water that have the same interest as you.

If you happen to keep your boat in the water at your local marina, you will meet the nicest folks there also and over time they will be somewhat like family.
