How To Have Fun Being Sober
76
After your day is done, can you honestly say that you had fun? So many people try to have fun, but they need their best friend "alcohol" to tag along with them.
A lot of people don't think they could have any fun at all, unless they are drunk or feeling that almighty buzz that comes along with drinking alcohol. You know that old saying, don't leave home with out it.
Since I finally called it quits and surrendered to my alcohol addiction and found how to have fun being sober. Ways that I thought were never possible with out drinking alcohol.
Anyone can have a ton of fun being sober, such as just taking a nice walk with your spouse or partner through the wilderness and taking in all of the beautiful sites and animals that live there in the wilderness.
Head on down to the beach and sit on the bench, breathing in the clean fresh air and just watching the waves crashing onto the beach. Walking along the beach at the waters edge holding hands with your honey, walking ever so slow and just relaxing and taking in that special moment in time.
Remember all these wonderful things when you are sitting at your desk or what ever job you do for a living, and rewind your mind to when you were in such peace and happiness strolling along the waters edge or on that hike trail in the woods.
Take a nice drive to your favorite place, stop and have some breakfast, lunch or dinner, and just talk to each other about all different things that are on your minds. You will find that the conversations go very well being sober verses conversations in a intoxicated state.
What ever the case may be, there are so many things that you can do being sober.
Yes we all know that people think that being drunk seems to make everything so much more fun. I have learned that this is so NOT TRUE. You may think that it is more fun as your get drunker and drunker as the day goes on.
The thing is, will you remember this fun? Will you survive your fun day with out injury or embarrassment? When you arrive home at the end of your fun day, can you honestly say that you truly had a great time today and we have to do it again?
When someone is having a so called fun day being drunk, what do you think the outcome of their day will be in the end?
- Will they be drunk, sick and maybe can not remember the fun filled day?
- Will they arrive home safe without and incidents along the way?
- Will they want to remember what a great time they had or just forget about it and never do it again?
- At the end of the day can they honestly say they had a fun day drunk and will have to do it again?
These are just a few things to think about if you really think the only way to have fun is being drunk.
Being sober now, I finally realize that doing things without alcohol involved is very enjoyable, and thinking back on the times being drunk, there is no comparison.
To me, life is were it should be now. Living clean and sober and being able to really enjoy everything I do and to actually remember what I did.
Try Sobriety out and just give it a chance and you will see a totally different life out there that you thought never existed.

Hey, the clean life-This was the one thing I worried about when laid up in the hospital in June of '08 with a shot pancreas. Seriously, I was devastated that alcohol could no longer be a part of my life!
Fun? How on earth was I to have any fun whatsoever sober? Over the past 2+ years I've found 'fun' in many other venues than drinking away the world. Now I watch as my husband goes down the same road-he wants 2 pints of tequila-rather than the daily 1-on his days off to 'celebrate,' which, of course is no celebration at all. Especially to me. :(
He still thinks he's having a ball...
Thanks for this hub. I've bookmarked it as a reminder.
so much of life passes us on by. so many different addictions, each takes away if a different way,
yet, many won't see the way till it is to late!
To those who made it out in time to have some life left to live, CONGRATULATIONs you made it out! Stay strong and kep smiling and hold that spark that you have gained in your heart, it gets brighter and more powerful with each new day! Voted up all the way! God Bless ~aloha~
Congrats on kicking your addiction. I admire you for the effort it takes. Nice hub and very inspirational.
WOW what a great tribute to clean and sober. I have never had an issue with drinking, I do but I quit after the one I enjoy on occasions. I do realize many others can not do this. I have a brother who is a slave to the bottle and it breaks my heart to watch that. He is still in denial or a lie which ever the, "I can handle it" comment falls into. What a great topic and thank you so much for bringing it up for discussion. Peace and much fun to you dear clean and sober soul. Peace indeed!
hi the clean life, one thing good about avg home in India is that females dont drink. And since we got very close families and son is always making sure that his father dont see him drunk and most live in same house so i wont deny we dont have drunkards but problem is very less in India
I really like the message in your Hub. When I was young and I went to pub or disco with my friends I always had drunk. Yes, I had fun... But: how many times I did not remember the night before? How many times I risked to have an incidents? How many times I was ashamed of my actions? The real fun is when we are in the full of our mental lucidity, to rejoice of every moment, of every word, of every look, of every sensation.
Voted Up and rated Beautiful!...Congratulations~ the clean life, your story is very inspirational and sincere. Thanks for sharing your ideas and thoughts. May God Bless!
