Sobriety Is The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life

Updated on August 12, 2013

When someone is addicted to drugs or alcohol, sobriety is the last thing on their mind because the addiction they have and live with over runs their minds and body.

Believe it or not, sobriety is the first day of the rest of your life and anyone that wants a better life for them selves and their family should really consider getting clean and sober and try sobriety out. You will never regret this huge life change, I am proof of it.

You will be surprised of how many good things come out of being sober. Life is a beautiful thing and so many people abuse alcohol and drugs and miss out on some of the best years of their lives all because of an avoidable addiction.

Finding sobriety in ones life is really right in front of them. The only problem is that many people with an addiction don't really care to be sober. They are so used to being drunk or high and forget about what life is really about.

Why Are You Afraid of Sobriety

Sobriety is nothing to be afraid of. It is the addiction we have that we should be horrified of, for it just may take everything you have away, including your own life. Is that a scary thought or do you really think it can't happen to you?

Give your addiction free reigns and it will over time destroy you and everything you have worked so hard to have in your life, including families, friends, jobs and so many other things. The alcoholic needs to know that living life sober is the best thing in the world. I write these hubs expressing that sobriety is wonderful, but sometimes I think I am not getting through to many people that are addicted to alcohol.

As we all know that we only have just one life here on earth so why is it that so many people try to destroy it with drugs or alcohol? Addiction is a chronic disease and there are things that trigger one to drink alcohol or use drugs, but what is it that triggers someone to use or even to relapse?

Some alcoholics may be suffering from depression and think to them self that drinking alcohol will make them feel better. The fact of the matter is, drinking alcohol just depresses you more.

So people drink to feel happy or get happier than they are and then there are those that drink to get away from their problems or think they can solve that problem or problems by drinking alcohol.

I am not a Doctor or a Therapist, but I can tell you from my experiences drinking alcohol that nothing will get better in your live living with an addiction to drugs or alcohol. Sobriety is the only way you will be able to cope with the problem and hurdles life has to offer.

From one alcoholic to another, my suggestion to you is please just try sobriety. You will be very surprised just how your life will start to turn around and begin to get better one day at a time.
