How To Turn A Dream Into A Reality
72Dreams When We Were Young
All of us since we were young children have had many dreams of thoughts of how our life would be when we got older. At that time in our lives those dreams seem so far fetched and out of reach that many of us gave up on those dreams as we continue to get older.
Many of us us called it quits and stopped thinking about those dreams because we thought we could never achieve in our life time. This part is so sad, that many people give up on their own self. They don't have that self esteem and do not give their selves enough credit telling themselves that they can make those childhood dreams come true, but it does indeed that a little effort on the dreamers part, in which many people do not want to put out the effort to achieve that life dream.
I would like to share my story of how to turn a dream into a reality through my experiences in my life and there are two parts of which I must explain to you.
Keeping That Dream Alive
In order to keep your dream alive all through your childhood years and into adulthood you must continue to dwell on your dream and think of everything and anything to make that dream a reality in your years to come. If you just say, forget about it and think it can never be done and just quit on that dream you will never know or always wonder if that dream would have ever became a reality in your life.
My Dreams Did Become A Reality After Many Years
I grew up with my Mom, Dad and my Sister on the water with our house right on the bay with a dock, boats and everything a child would want as far as sea shore living. I absolutely loved the bay and the ocean and my childhood dream way back then was to own my own home someday on or near that same bay and ocean. I had huge dreams of what life would be for me living in a place such as that.
As time went by and I got older my dreams basically washed away do to my path in life and heading for that dream got steered in the wrong direction and right into alcohol addiction.
I hung around people that had no dreams in their live that they wanted top fulfill and were completely satisfied with the addictions and the way they lived there lives.
I was always told by my parents to never be a follower and to be a leader, but I didn't pay attention to those suggestion and followed my alcoholic friends right down the path they were heading, leaving my dreams of shore living far behind.
Over time mine and our addiction to alcohol began to get worse as each year passed and before we knew it, alcohol was our top priority in our lives and every dream I had when I was younger was no longer in my life. I was perfectly happy living my life drinking alcohol and hitting the bars with all those friends that had no dreams in their lives whatsoever. I was then a follower something my parents always told me Not to be, but the addiction to alcohol over powered my thoughts and my childhood dreams.
Looking Back On Those Years
Looking back on those years of my life I now realize that I had wasted so many precious years and placed my childhood dreams behind my addiction to alcohol. What ashamed of all those years wasted I could of made my dream a reality many years ago, but I chose a different path in my life and live my life being only a follower and not the leader I should of been.
Now, thirty five years later I am clean and sober and have been working on that dream that I put behind me because of alcohol and I have made that dream a reality finally. I was persistent over the last couple of years and I was determined to make my dream come true and to share my dream with my wife of thirty years.
When I finally decided to quit drinking alcohol and surrender to my addiction is when everything started to turn a round for the better in my life. I was totally amazed how my life changed over those couple of years,
What I am trying to tell everyone that has any kind of addiction is that you should never ever give up on your dreams and keep reaching for those dreams until you have achieved it or them. Never give up hope and never put yourself down saying you will never be able to achieve those dreams you once had as a child or even as you grew older in life.
It is never too late to make those dreams you once had into a reality. Continue to think those positive thoughts telling yourself you want to have all your dreams come true and with the right determination all your dreams will come true. It certainly did for me and my family as well because I was determined to change my life around and make good of all those years of my addiction to alcohol.
I did it when years ago I never thought I could, and so can you do the same. So, go after your dreams and enjoy your new found life.

Hi Mark, thanx for sharing your story. I am at the lowest point in my life at the moment so far. I am 32 and have overcome 10 years of drug addiction but have replaced it in the last 2 years with alcohol addiction. How did you find out what triggered your addiction. Wish I could be a strong as you. All the best

Thanks for sharing your story, it can be difficult when one takes the wrong path, early on it is so hard to get back on track and feel good about yourself. I had a bout with addiction when I was much younger and although I haven't used anything for years I still feel "different" and probably always will so even more important to keep my dream alive! Great message! Nothing good ever comes easy but giving up is not an option....
