How To Be A Great Parent
Be the Best You Can
From the very minute your Doctor tells a couple that they are going to have a baby, the joy and excitement starts, and the couple begins to plan their new life as a parent.
Some may not be quite ready for this huge adjustment of bringing a new life into the world, and then there are those that are filled with joy and have planned on a family for some time.
They say, "I want to learn how to be a great parent' as they start to re-do their babies room and get everything ready for their new arrival in nine months.
They tell everyone they possibly can think of with joy and happiness in their voices of the new family member arriving soon.
Most of the time the husband joins in to visit the Doctor with his spouse for the checkups all through the months. As each month passes and the time gets closer, they get happier and more and more excited.
They wonder to themselves, what sex the baby may be, and sometimes they can't wait so they ask their Doctor in advance of the birth whether it is a boy or a girl and in some cases maybe it could be both.
Wrong Way
They begin thinking if they will be able to handle this adjustment in their lives and wonder if they will do everything right as a new parent. Sure, they will be nervous wondering if everything will be okay.
As a parent and grandparent myself, I couldn't be happier with my life. Having a child and being able to raise them and watch them each and everyday grow and learn.
Being a great parent, requires a lot of work and devotion for the upbringing of your child. We as parents, must teach our child right from wrong, teach to love, teach them the meaning of life and bring religion into their lives at a very early age.
We need to give them every possible tool that will make their life a beautiful one and things we do with them and teach them, they will remember for the rest of their lives.
They look up to us as parents and want to be just like us, their parent, which bring me to just say one thing and that is, "if we have any type of addiction, our children will pick up on it over time and they will think it is okay because mommy and daddy do it" .
I hate to keep preaching on this as I write so much on the topic of addictions in my hubs, but everyone knows where I'm going with this.
Teach your children everything you know. Make sure they are around when you are doing something that they will be able to learn from.
- Show unconditional love to your children.
- Show respect to your child as you would want to be respected.
- Do not break promises to your child.
- Give your word to them and stick to it.
- Punishment when needed to make them realize right from wrong and so that they learn.
- Give your child emotional support.
- Give your child the freedom to develop themselves.
- Express your feelings to your child.
- Trust your child.
- Give your child Security.
- Give your child the knowledge they need to grow into an adult.
- Listen to what your child has to say.
Pay attention to what they say and do, and listen when they voice out to you. Do not ignore them because you might be too busy to listen. Stop what you are doing and listen to what they have to say and give them the proper and honest answer to their questions.
