How A Positive Attitude Can Help With Long Term Sobriety
Oh yes, a life of sobriety, and how many people that are addicted to alcohol can remember how it even feels to be clean and sober again. This horrible addiction sneaks up on us very slowly and before you know it, a fun time out drinking with the guys or gals turns into a major addiction if we don't kick it in the bud before it takes over our lives.
All the years I drank alcohol I really forgot the feeling of being sober day after day. Waking up with no hangover, bright eyed and bushy tailed. Nope, that was not in the cards for me as it isn't for many people addicted to alcohol.
I have learned over the past two years how a positive attitude can help with long term sobriety. Positivity wasn't in the cards for me either. It seems that people like myself having a hard time staying sober live in a world of negativity and everything seemed to revolve over the almighty drink.
On October 27, 2011, I will have been clean and sober for two years and I have to tell you, my life is the greatest it has ever been. You know, when someone has been away for sobriety for so long we tend to forget what it feels like, but now I know, and I will never let that horrible addiction take over my life again.
If you or anyone you know has an addiction to alcohol you must know that the way you think and act has a lot to do with getting sober and staying sober. You need to start taking charge of your life and not letting the demons inside run your life.
It is so possible to find your own sobriety and start living the life you deserve. If you truly want deep down inside to be sober, try changing your mindset and start thinking positive thoughts and think of all the things you are missing out on by being addicted to alcohol.
HAVING A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
KEEPING A POSITIVE ATTITUDE IN LIFE
I thought I would never be able to be sober again, but that is the negativity speaking out and not my true feelings I had deep within. Once I changed my outlook on life and began to think positive, and start saying, I can beat this addiction,, I want to be clean and sober again. I want to live a normal life and just be happy without thinking alcohol can make me happy, and believe me, alcohol does nothing but make us more miserable in my opinion.
Having a positive attitude in life can be so rewarding, not only finding sobriety, but anything you do in life. Positive thinking gives positive results.
When you have decided to surrender to your addiction to alcohol always keep in mind that this life change will be the best thing you could ever do for yourself and your families as well. They are suffering right along with you and aways remember that when you tilt the bottle up again.
Sure it is hard to get sober and to stay sober, but keeping in mind the positive attitude you should have you will overcome your addiction. You will get many urges and desires to drink in the beginning and all through your recovery, but you need to be stronger than your addiction and fight back. Don't let your addiction run your life.
I had strong desires to drink in the beginning, but I had to stay strong and keep telling myself, " I can do this." As each day, week, month passes by it will get easier to push those urges out of the way. There will be times that life kind of gives your the short stick, but no matter what happens in your life don't give in and don't break. Keep Positive and you will make it with long term sobriety just as I am doing right now.
Remember: BELIEVE AND YOU WILL ACHIEVE !
