How A Life Without Alcohol Can Be So Fulfilling

Updated on February 22, 2011

You may ask yourself how a life without alcohol can be so fulfilling and I am going to tell you that answer in my own words from my own life experiences.

Alcohol can be a fun time when going out, but only if you drink it responsibly and don't overdo drinking it. There is that little fine line, that when you cross it you become one that was sober and enjoying yourself to being drunk and in some cases not the same person as you were before crossing that fine line.

I can remember those times just having a drink or two and feeling that sense of calmness and all the weight lifted off my shoulders from the day at work or just anything that had been going on during the course of the day, but pushing the envelope just a little more with a couple more drinks that feeling of calmness now becomes buzzed and wanting more of the drink to now get drunk figuring I would have a much better time feeling that way.

LEARNING TO LIVE WITHOUT ALCOHOL

After surrendering to my addiction to alcohol it had crossed my mind, "how in the world will I be able to have the fun I used to when I drank alcohol?" The question all alcoholics ask themselves when they decide to stop drinking alcohol.

It really is a scary thought thinking about such a thing and wondering how you will survive without alcohol. Well, believe me my friends, you will indeed survive without the alcohol and when you get used to being without alcohol your days and night alcohol free will be much more enjoyable and memorable as well.

I never knew just how much fun life could be without alcohol in my system. I'm now up for anything and at anytime of the day, but when drinking alcohol my day stopped right after 1pm and drinking started till it was time for bed leaving the wife and family on their own to fen for themselves and do their own thing, as I did mine.

Now that I think about it I was really selfish in my way of life and how I only thought of myself and no one else.

When you have decided to live life without alcohol you will have somewhat of an adjustment to make in your life.  I know I did.  I was very nervous going out anywhere without my crutch to lean on.

As time passed by, each outing and each day became a lot easier to deal with and before I knew it I was walking on my own without my crutch.

What a wonderful feeling to be alcohol free and just to enjoy life clean and sober. If I had known this years ago and wasn't so afraid of sobriety I would have had some great passed years to share with all.

So, the moral of this story is that if you truly want a better life for you and your family, you have to take that first step towards your own sobriety and make a better life for yourself and your family.

Living life without alcohol is really not as hard as I thought it would be. I have found out through this experience that it is all in the mind and you control that mind of yours, meaning you can make it do anything you wish it to do. I chose to become clean and sober and with keeping a positive attitude towards becoming sober it worked just as I planed it to be.

If you want sobriety go after it and don't stop until you achieve it.  Once you achieve it, stay with it forever.  Never let anything or anyone stand in your way to becoming clean and sober.
