Drinking To Self Destruction

Updated on September 5, 2011

Why is an alcoholic looking to self destruct? We all know what drugs and alcohol do to our bodies but for some reason the drug addict or alcoholic doesn't care. Drinking and using are their top priority and I can say it was mine too. I knew what the consequences were when I decided to start drinking alcohol, but you know as well as I do once those demons of alcohol get a hold of your body there is no way out unless you are strong enough to say no more or I have had enough.

In many cases we are weak and not strong enough to walk away from our demons. The more we drink the more the demons want, so we then become dependent and loving the feeling that alcohol and drugs give us.

Boy, isn't that a wonderful feeling? Or is it? Not so nice in the morning now is it? Not so nice when we get sick as a dog from over drinking on any given day or night?

So, why do we do this to not only ourselves , but our families and friends as well? Why are we drinking to self destruction? I can answer that because those horrible alcohol demons got a hold of me too and wouldn't let go, until years went by and I said enough was enough and i surrendered to them.

Sure drinking is loads of fun and I loved it so much I forgot the real meaning of life and forgot about what really should of meant more to me than alcohol.

I write about this addiction to alcohol because I want every alcoholic to know that there is always hope for sobriety if you really want it in your life as I did and still do till the day I die. At least it wouldn't be by alcohol, I can say that for sure.

I have washed my hands to the demons that once ran my life as it is running your right now. Be stronger than them and surrender before it is too late.

AVOIDING SELF DESTRUCTION

In order to avoid self destruction when drinking alcohol or doing drugs is entirely up to each person that is drinking or using. How bad do you want to be the prisoner of an addiction? How bad do you want to destroy your life and everyone else that you know and love?

Yes, I know what you are thinking right now. You think I am nuts and in reality I was nuts to even lets those horrible demons almost take everything I worked so hard in life for. I was more than nuts, I was crazy as every alcoholic and drug addict is. I don't mean to be the mean guy here, but no alcoholic or drug addict gives their self enough credit to beat the game the demons are playing with you.

You must not back down to them. Look at the life you are missing out on by being addicted to drugs and alcohol. I missed out on many precious years myself, but finally I smartened up and said I have had enough and simply surrender. My life means more to me than feeding the demons in side of me and you.

Make up your mind to just surrender to your addiction and work on it each and everyday until you have become totally clean and sober. If you think you need help doing so, than simply ask for it. Never be a shamed or embarrassed to ask for the help you need to get your sobriety back into your live.

It really isn't hard at all to get clean and sober. The hardest thing is to WANT TO BE CLEAN AND SOBER! If you don't want a better life for you and your family then there is not a person in the world that can help you.

If you decide you want to be clean and sober and have it in your heart that you will do anything it takes to make it happen, then that is a huge plus and the people or Rehab. Centers have a fighting chance to get you well.

You have to help yourself before being helped by others and that's all there is to it.
